KNUST Department of Teacher Education Courses and Contact

The Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi established the Faculty of Educational Studies (FES) in 2018. The KNUST Faculty of Educational Studies is divided into two departments known as. Department of Educational Innovations in Science and Technology (EIST) and Department of Teacher Education.

Prof. Winston Kwame Abroampa is the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies at KNUST, and Dr. Francis Kwadwo Awuah is the newly appointed HoD at the Department of Teacher Education.

Entry requirements to KNUST Department of Teacher Education

Entry Requirement for MPhil in ICT Education

  1. Candidates with a good first degree with CGPA of 2.5 (2nd Class lower) or better in ICT Education related discipline may enrol on the MPhil in ICT Education for 24 months (2 years).
  2. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines with Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE); Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGCE); Masters in Education (M.ED)
  3. Candidates with M.Ed. or MSc in ICT Education (without research) from a recognized university and have taken and passed a course in research methods may apply for a top-up to pursue MPhil.

Entry Requirement for PhD in ICT Education

  1. Candidates with MPhil in ICT Education from a recognized university.
  2. Candidates with M.Ed./MSc with research in ICT Education from a recognized university.
  3. Candidates with MPhil or MSc in Computer Science or Information Technology with PGDE, PGCE or M.ED

MPhil/PhD in Language and Literacy Education

Entry Requirement for MPhil in Language and Literacy Education

  1. Candidates with a good first degree with CGPA of 2.5 (2nd Class lower) or better in English Education, Ghanaian Language Education or related discipline may enrol on the MPhil in Language and Literacy Education for 24 months (2 years).
  2. Candidates with Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Ghanaian Languages or related discipline with Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE); Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGCE); Masters in Education (M.ED) 
  3. Candidates with M.Ed. or MA in English, Ghanaian Language Education (without research) or related discipline from a recognized university and have taken and passed a course in research methods may apply for a top-up to pursue MPhil.

Entry Requirement for PhD in Language and Literacy Education 

  1. Candidates with MPhil in English, Ghanaian Language Education from a recognized university.
  2. Candidates with M.Ed./MA with research in English, Ghanaian Language Education from a recognized university.
  3. Candidates with MA in English Language, Ghanaian Languages with a PGDE/PGCE or M.ED
