University of Ghana Affiliated Colleges of Education – See list

The University of Ghana (UG) is one of the leading public universities in Ghana, with a vision of becoming a world-class research-intensive institution. As part of its mission to produce high-quality graduates and professionals, UG has established a College of Education, which oversees the academic affairs and quality assurance of six colleges of education affiliated to UG.

These colleges of education are institutions that train teachers and educators for the basic and secondary levels of education in Ghana.

They offer various programmes in primary, junior high school, and early grade education, as well as critical subject areas such as mathematics, science, English, and French.

In this article, we will introduce the six colleges of education affiliated to UG, their locations and programmes.

List of Colleges of Education affiliated to UG

Below are the names for all college of Education Affiliated to University of Ghana

  • Accra College of Education: This college offers Primary, JHS and Early Grade Education programmes.
  • Peki College of Education: This college offers Primary and JHS Education programmes.
  • Mount Mary College of Education: This college is located in Somanya and offers Primary and JHS Education programmes.
  • Enchi College of Education: This college offers Early Grade, Primary and JHS Education programmes.
  • E.P College of Education: This college is situated in Amedzofe and offers Primary and JHS Education programmes.
  • Gbewaa College of Education: This college is based in Pusiga and offers Primary and JHS Education programmes.

These colleges of education are supervised and mentored by the University of Ghana’s College of Education, which also provides academic certificates to the graduates.

How to get admission to Colleges of Education

The first thing you need to do is pay GHC115.50 to the Colleges of Education- Ghana Account. You can do this at any branch of this bank across the country:

  • You can pay at any branch of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.
  • You can also pay using your mobile money wallet: Tigo Cash, Vodafone cash, Airtel Money, or MTN Mobile Money. Just dial 9248# from any network.
  • After paying, you will get these details:
  • Use the PIN to go to the website and fill out the online application form. Follow the instructions carefully.
  • Choose three Colleges that you want to apply to for your Program. Also, choose a Ghanaian Language that you want to study.

NOTE

  • Before you fill out the application form, make sure you read and understand all the instructions carefully.
  • If you don’t fill out the application form correctly, it will not be accepted.
  • When you finish the online application form, you have to print a copy and send it with one passport photo and your results slip(s) (if you have them) by EMS priority envelope. You can get the envelope from any Ghana Post branch. The envelope should be addressed to: The Principal of the first College you chose.
  • You will get a text message to confirm that your application has been received. So, you have to give a valid and working cell phone number when you fill out the form online.
  • You will also get a text message to tell you if you have been offered admission or not. If you don’t get this message, it means your application was not successful.
  • The Colleges will check your results with the West African Examinations Council as part of the admission process. If you use fake or false documents to support your application, you will face legal action.
