The Ghana Education Service (GES) offers comprehensive lesson notes to assist teachers in their instruction. These notes are available for all educational levels, including Kindergarten, Junior High School, and primary school (from Basic 1 to Basic 6).
The weekly lesson plans encompass all subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Science, Our World Our People (OWOP), Religious and Moral Education (RME), Physical Education, History, Ghanaian Language, Creative Arts, and My Family. The lesson notes are systematically arranged from the first week up to the 121st week.
These lesson notes were developed based on the new curriculum of the GES that was implemented in September 2019. The GES, in partnership with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), has made these lesson plans downloadable.
In 2024, the GES introduced a significant change. They announced that both handwritten and electronically prepared lesson notes would be accepted. Teachers can submit these notes in either printed or email formats, offering them the flexibility to choose their preferred method of documentation.
This initiative is designed to accommodate diverse teaching styles and preferences, promoting a more cooperative and supportive atmosphere within schools. By accepting both handwritten and digitally prepared lesson notes, the GES aims to incorporate technological advancements and adapt to contemporary teaching practices.
